An Organic Experience
By Steve Salter

Sitting at my desk somewhere in hot, sticky, sweaty and ever so slightly smelly London I long for the great outdoors. Oh to be out there enjoying the cool Summer breeze and luscious countryside! I feel ostracized from nature typing away in my technological cocoon but there is a small part of mother nature which lives in my bathroom cabinet which I turn to each morning. There are an abundance of organic grooming products which can give you a dose of nature every time you rub them in but for me, two brands lead the way. Neal's Yard Remedies and Dr.Hauschka both offer products which, if you close your eyes, transport you to the countryside, here are some of my favourites...

Neal's Yard Remedies use natural ingredients and organic plant extracts to create a bespoke male skincare range. The entire range contains the finest natural ingredients treating your skin the way nature intended. For those of you like me, who need things simplified for them but still want to do the right thing, there is an organic rating on each product.

- Revitalising Face Scrub (£12.90: 71% organic) A gentle exfoliating paste which cleanses, smooths and softens the skin to ready your face for shaving.

- Shaving Oil (£6.99: 99% organic): The ingredients list of this makes it read more like a recipe straight out of River Cottage. Made with organic cypress, bergamot, and cedarwood in a soothing base of jojoba and evening primrose oil. Tasty, I mean.

- After Shave Balm (£13.10: 69% organic) Organic aloe vera, lavender and yarrow, which are all renowned for their skin-soothing and cooling properties, combine in this skin soothing lotion.

Dr. Hauschka
has a strong following among men who care about the health of their skin -- and about what goes into their personal care products. The daily cleansing, toning and moisturising recommendations apply to anyone interested in skin health whilst the subtle, earthy scent of the products should appeal to all gentlemen.

- Cleansing Cream ($26.95): The pick of the strong Dr.Hauschka Skin Care offering is the Cleansing Cream  which combines my favourite scent, almond, with extracts of anthyllis, calendula, chamomile and St. John's wort to remove dirt and impurities without stripping the skin of moisture.

- Cleansing Milk ($36.95): This makes for a luxurious shaving cream. It protects skin from irritation and helps lubricate the razor blade.

- Daily Revitalising Eye Cream ($51.95): Far too many hours spent staring at the laptop screen combined with late nights have left their mark on my eyes. This piece of kit nurtures the delicate skin around the eyes to hydrate skin and diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
