T-Shirts
I have tended to err away from printed t-shirts. I'm not sure whether to attribute this to the highly embarrassing Grunge years of my youth when I couldn't be found without a band name adorning my chest, or just the way in which prints tend to be over busy for my slightly sombre wardrobe.
Long Clothing, formed in 2008 by designers Gareth Emmett and Rhys Dawney, have converted me with their designs. Consisting of bold shapes in stark black and white, and in my favourite oversized, unisex silhouette, I'll happily renounce my print aversion and throw their pieces over some jeans and thumping big boots, or maybe tucked into some slacks for a smarter look.
Swayed into printed t-shirt territory, I decided to seek out some others:
The first four are from Australian label Alpha 60. It's a refreshing change to see unlikely t-shirt icons such as Stanley Kubrick, Bill Murray and Gene Hackman idolised, and particularly in such great -delicate yet strong - illustrations. The final five are available at farfetch.com and from Ryan Noon, Bird, Blaak Homme, Ryan Noon and Henrik Vibskov respectively. Again, it's the strong shapes and almost pencil like illustrations that have convinced me to dip a toe into the printed t-shirt waters.
